Final Concept
For my final project, I wanted to explore more with poster making. For our third project, I made a book in inDesign full of posters of my favorite band: Glass Animals. I wanted to build off this and try my hand at new skills like 3D modeling/Animation and Motion Graphics. While I have had experience in Maya (3D Modeling/Animation) before, I have never used after effects. For this project, I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Clip Studio Paint, and Maya. While it took a while to get the hang of After Effects, after an hour or two, I was able to use it comfortably.
With this project, I really wanted to focus on the retro theme that the band exhibits throughout the whole album. I did this by incorporating a diner theme throughout the whole poster.
The song in itself is about temptation and lust. The writer himself says “it’s the most sleazy lyrics I have ever written. But I believe that everyone has that inside them somewhere, even if it’s only a tiny bit. It comes out from time to time, but for some people, it’s out all the time.” The song is sung between two perspectives, a man and a girl. The girl is a prostitute to pay her way through college. The only problem is that she is falling in love with the man and wants an actual relationship, while the man is only looking for sex. I tried to represent these two characters with the pie. For the girl, she is giving part of herself away (the slice) and making the ret of her vulnerable (the leftover pie). While the man is only taking a part of the situation (the slice) and ignoring the rest (the leftover pie).
